Marco Antonio Dias

BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from PUC-Rio (1982), MSc. in Industrial Engineering – Department of Industrial Engineering (1996) and PhD in Production Engineering from PUC-Rio (2005). Master of Financial Planning Consultant – Petróleo Brasileiro – Rio de Janeiro – and Adjunct Professor at PUC-Rio, Department of Electrical Engineering. He is the author of two graduate textbooks (graduate) on real options, and Corporate Advisor of Real Options Group. Teaches a real options course at Petrobras since 1996, as well as courses on game theory and the value of information. Has taught other courses such as risk analysis on projects, corporate finance and project finance. At PUC-Rio he teaches a course on real options since 2005 and real options games since 2006. He coordinated several research projects between Petrobras and universities (mostly PUC-Rio, but also FGV and Mines Paris Tech). It has been keynote speaker at several international conferences. Has given seminars real options in international institutions (such as MIT in 2002 and 2003) and national entities such as Unicamp.

Has experience in Production Engineering and Financial Subjects like: Financial Derivatives, Real Options, Capital Market, Engineering Economics, Econometrics and Time Series. Has done consulting work for Coca Cola, Telemar and Petrobras. Has been invited to be the External Examiner for the defense of Ph.D Thesis and Licentiate Thesis at the University of Stockholm and has been responsible for the Cooperation agreement between the PUC-Rio and this University

Has experience in Economics, acting on the following subjects: real options, commodities, Oil & Gas, Kalman filtering and derivatives.

Katia Maria Carlos Rocha

Katia Rocha is an economist at Institute for Applied Economic Research of Brazilian Government (Ipea) since 1997. She holds a PhD in Finance and a B.A. degree in Industrial and Electronic Engineering, both at Catholic University at Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil. She lectured at PUC-Rio between 2002-2012 Derivatives, Decision Analysis and Risk Management courses. At 2011-2013 she lectured Real Option course at Coppead-Finanças and Risk Management at IAG-PUC-Rio. She holds several publications in international journals such as Energy Policy, Journal of Fixed Income, Emerging Markets Review, Forest Policy and Economics, Pesquisa e Planejamento Econômico, Revista Brasileira de Finanças, Economia Aplicada e Revista Brasileira de Economia

She has expertise in developing economic and financial models to improve public policy while providing assistance to the Strategic Affairs Secretariat of the Brazilian Presidency.

BS in Industrial Engineering, MSc in Production Engineering from PUC-Rio and PhD from EAESP / FGV.  Carlos Patricio was a professor at UERJ and at the Dept. of Industrial Engineering at PUC-Rio, taught undergraduate, master’s and doctorate courses, and was the author of the books Financial Leasing, Mathematical Finance, Investment Management and Value Creation and Economic Engineering. An enthusiast of real options, he published numerous articles, mentored dozens of students in the field and left a significant contribution to his colleagues and his partners at NUPEI before he left us prematurely. He will be greatly missed.
