(2019) and Master in Finance from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), MBA in International Management at the Catholic Business School of Porto (Portugal) and graduated in Business Administration from PUC-Rio. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2016. His line of research at PUC-Rio was Valuation, with an emphasis on Real Options methodology, participating in studies in Project Evaluation, Capital Structure, Risk Analysis, M&A and Financial markets. He has professional experience in valuation, Private Equity / Venture Capital and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Participated in NUPEI between 2013 and 2019.

Juan Guilhermo Lazo Lazo

Juan Lazo is a full-time professor at the Academic Department of Engineering at Universidad del Pacífico. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in the field of Methods for Decision Support and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in the field of Computer Systems, both from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). He is also an Electronic Engineer and holder of a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Nacional de San Agustín de Arequipa.
He had done research and projects for companies such as Petrobras, Light Electricity Services S.A., Light ESCO S.A. (Sector Finance and Marketing), ONS National Electrical System Operator – Brazil, AES Eletropaulo, CNPq – National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, among others.

Ph.D. in Finance and Investment Analysis at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro – PUC-Rio, Master in Production Engineering at PUC-Rio and graduated in Industrial Engineering at the University of San Agustin from Arequipa – Peru. Over 10 years experience in valuation of investments in industries like oil, mining, electricity, port administration and consultancy. His main research lines are: corporate finance, economic and financial valuation of investment projects, real options, modeling of stochastic processes, management and risk analysis, project management. He is currently a professor at the Industrial Engineering Dept of the Federal University of Santa Catarina.

PhD in Electrical Engineering from PUC-Rio (2018) with a focus on decision support methods and a master’s degree in economics from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (2013). He has experience in economics, finance, statistics, mathematical optimization and scientific and commercial programming. He currently researches econometric models in high dimension, big data, data science and machine learning and works at Banco BBM. He was a researcher at NUPEI between 2014 and 2016.
